Formerly, it was home to many bats, thus earning the island its name as Koh Khang Khao (Bat Island). Traveling takes less than 17 minutes by speedboat south from Koh Phayam.
The western part of the island has plant covered rocks throughout the area. However, the eastern side has nice white beaches stretching approximately 200 meters long. It is assumed that the formation of the eastern beach of Koh Khang Khao is a result of piles of coral reefs being brought to shore by the strong monsoon winds.
As a result, the sand grain here is very delicate and smooth, sparkling golden brown in color and differentiating itself from any other beaches of the Ranong Sea. Not to mention the sheer blue colors of the water.
